Siblings in arms, why are we fighting again? Quit aiming your gun at me. Can't you see that we are the dogs, pitted against one another? We ought to be biting the owner, not each other. I want to be dancing in the streets with you. Busting open cop car windows with you. Making soup for you. Breathing life into what it means to live within poetry with you.
It is scary, I know. It's one punch after the other. It is too much time spent in pain. It is layers of brick on our chest, it is the scent of heavy death following us in our sleep. That you don't have to feel all alone. We are the mourning the futures we will never have, the children we refuse to bear. We are righteous anger shield deep blue grief. We are turning on each other out of fear.
Trust in us and create a home. It will not be perfect. Not the first time or the first thousand times. We will have to talk, learn how to give and receive feedback, soothe and soften, reassess. We will have to be willing to grown beyond our ego.
But we cannot break through to the next world with only one set of hands. And we must learn how to belong to each other again. So be brave and let us try.

She is a facilitator, abolitionist, writer, lover of the arts, and eager student of all teachers who are practicing joyful militancy.
